Mel B finally ends nine-year family feud

The former Spice Girl, 42 fell out with her mum Andrea Brown and sister Danielle in 2007 over their unhappiness at Mel marrying producer Stephen Belafonte, who had previously been found guilty of assaulting his ex-wife, The Sun reports.

But last year it was rumoured the three were on speaking terms, and Mel has now revealed Andrea and Danielle visited her on set of Channel 5’s Lip Sync Battle UK.

Mel told new! magazine: “Yes, she came down yesterday, saw the kids and watched the show. Then we hung out and went for dinner with the kids.”

When questioned if her sister came along, Mel revealed: “Yes. Family is family,” before closing the subject, adding: “There’s no point talking about that.”

Mel, who lives in Los Angeles, is mum to Phoenix Chi Gulzar, 17, Angel Murphy Brown, 9, and five-year-old Madison Brown Belafonte.

In 2011 Andrea revealed she discovered Mel’s pregnancy and birth to Madison on the internet.

She said: “I only found out she was pregnant because of Twitter and I found out on Twitter that she’d had the baby too.”

In 2014 she also made a failed attempt at reconnecting with her daughter when she was hospitalised during The X Factor final and appeared with bruises.

 

Then, on Mel’s 40th birthday in May 2015 Andrea shared a number of old photos on Twitter in a bid to reach out.

Alongside a photograph of a teenage Mel doing the splits in a pair of tiny denim hotpants, Andrea wrote: “@officialmelB 40 today hope ur birthday is as special as u r 2 me luv and miss u FOREVER X. (sic)”.

And she also posted a picture of herself applying make-up on a young Mel alongside the caption: “Today I have a 40 old child loved and missed so badly!! Official 1st makeup artist ME!! (sic)”

Danielle also tweeted: “Happy 40th Birthday to my one and only big sis @OfficialMelB (sic)”
