THERE are a lot of new rules that will dictate how Meghan Markle lives her life now she’s The Duchess of Sussex. But there’s something from her past the royals are dictating, too.

LONG before Meghan Markle became The Duchess of Sussex, she was known and loved as an actress for her role in hit US television series, Suits. But it appears if the royal family had their way, that’s something they would prefer you to forget.

As an official member of the monarchy now, Meghan has been given her own section on the royal.uk website — and while the “About the Duchess of Sussex” page highlights in great detail her activism and humanitarian work with UN Women, One Young World and World Vision, it downplays her successful acting career with only a passing reference to “filming in Toronto”.

“While filming in Toronto, The Duchess actively volunteered at a Canadian soup kitchen from 2011-2013,” it reads.

“She also established the program at her place of work to ensure that leftover meals from the set were donated to local homeless shelters.”

The bio also includes Meghan’s famous quote a United Nations conference in New York in 2015 when she said: “I am proud to be a woman and a feminist”.

And it makes reference to Meghan’s “keen awareness of social issues and actively participated in charitable work” from a young age.

Following the news of her engagement to Prince Harry in November last year, USA Network announced Meghan’s departure from the hit legal drama in a statement congratulating the actress.

Meghan, who portrayed Rachel Zane on the series, was one of the original cast members of the show since it first aired in June 2011.

The Duchess of Sussex then spoke out about her retirement from acting in her first joint interview with Prince Harry, her then-fiance.

“I’ve ticked this box, and I feel very proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work with [Harry] as a team,” she said.

The “Biography” section on the The Duchess of Sussex page offers a few more details about Meghan’s near 15-year career as an actress and her breakout role on Suits, although it still focuses on her charity work.

“She will perform Royal duties in support of The Queen through engagements at home and overseas, alongside a growing portfolio of charitable work and patronages,” it reads.

It also briefly references her lifestyle blog, The Tig — which, like her acting, she has given up to join the House of Windsor.
