But the former royals have been labelled hypocrites after they were photographed during an outing in Beverly Hills at the weekend, where they were seen driving a huge black Cadillac Escalade.
The Daily Mail reported the SUV, which reportedly costs from $A145,000, is one of the worst car models in terms of its reliance on fuel, with a six-litre engine.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who now call Los Angeles home, were seen out and about between appointments, as they wore face masks and summer clothing.

Meghan, 38, was pictured wearing a white dress and brimmed hat, while Harry, 35, was wearing a cap grey polo shirt and jeans, as they were spotted waiting for a valet to return their vehicle.
A week ago the couple appeared in a video to raise awareness amid the Black Lives Matter movement, encouraging the people of Britain to “promote prosperity, democracy and peace, amplify the voice of small states, and protect the environment”.
Critics took to social media to call out the couple for regularly urging others to look after the environment.
