Katy Perry: 'All The Awards That I've Won Are Fake'

In the latest installment of Katy Perry's Witness press tour, the singer spent some time with the New York Times' Caryn Ganz for a feature where she discussed how she views celebrity and the way success is measured in the industry these days. "All the awards shows are fake," Perry said, "and all the awards that I've won are fake." These awards don't even represent the audience, she added. "They're constructs."

What she calls the old Katy Perry-the Prism and Teenage Dream era persona she played publicly-isn't a construct though or completely gone. "I didn't kill her, because I love her, and she is exactly what I had to do then. And I'm not a con artist, I didn't con people, like, that was just me. And this is me now."

Ganz also revealed just why there are very few paparazzi shots of Perry. The singer has a "well-known strategy for frustrating the paparazzi: wearing the same Adidas track suit when she leaves home to make the photographs less sellable," she wrote. The more you know!
