START planning your parties, royal watchers. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have revealed exactly when they will tie the knot.

MARK your calendars, royal watchers. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will tie the knot on May 2018.

Kensington Palace has revealed the first details of plans for the big royal wedding, after the pair’s engagement was announced on Monday.

The wedding ceremony will be held in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, which is one of the Queen’s residences.

A palace spokesman said Prince Harry and Ms Markle had “regularly spent time” at the castle over their 18-month courtship.

Windsor is a “special place” for the couple and they are “incredibly grateful to the Queen for allowing them to use it”.

The couple are “working through ideas” for celebration but want it to be filled with “fun and joy”, the spokesman said.

The royal family will pay for church, flowers and music, but it is yet to be determined whether the ceremony will be televised.

The palace spokesman said the celebration would reflect the couple’s characters and personalities and would rise to the high standards of a royal wedding.

The couple was “extremely grateful for the warm public response” it had received to news of their impending nuptials.

“Yesterday was an Incredibly happy day for them and a fun day for them as well,” the spokesman said.

The pair will conduct their first public engagement together on Friday, with Ms Markle “very keen” to learn about projects Harry has been working on.

They will visit Nottingham to mark World AIDS Day.

Ms Markle intends to become a UK citizen, a process that takes a number of years. She will retain US citizenship during the process.

Prince Harry’s bride-to-be is a protestant, so she will be baptised.

Further details, such as who is to be the best man, will be revealed during the next six months.
