5 year oldThe daughter of singer R Kelly has broken her silence on her “monster” father after multiple women accused him of sex abuse in a startling TV docuseries.
Joann Kelly, 20, has issued an emotional Instagram post in reaction to the allegations made in Lifetime docuseries Surviving R Kelly.
The 20-year-old, who has not seen her Grammy award-winning dad in years, said she knows “who and what” her father is.
She wrote: “The same monster you all confronting me about is my father. I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house.
“My choice to not speak on him and what he does is for peace of mind. My emotional state. And for MY healing.
“I had to do and move in a manner that is best for me.”
Her mother Andrea — who filed a restraining order against her ex-husband in 2005 after an altercation — took part in the six-part doc series.
She filed for divorce after the relationship collapsed following the emergence of a sex tape allegedly involving Kelly and a 14-year-old girl.
Andrea claims the singer chose not to be part of his children’s lives.
Joann, who performs under the stage name Buku Abi, said she is praying for the women “affected by my father’s actions.”
She wrote: “Before I start I just want it to be known that I am speaking from the heart, nothing I say or do not say is to hurt any party affected by this.
“I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement for all that I feel currently.”
She added: “I pray for all the families & woman who have been affected by my father’s actions. Trust, I have been deeply affected by all of this.”
Meanwhile, reports claim her controversial father is being investigated by cops who contacted his accusers featured in the docuseries.
The R & B singer, 52, is being probed by police in Georgia over allegations made in Lifetime’s six-part Surviving R. Kelly, reports TMZ.
Musician Kelly strongly denies all abuse allegations made against him — but has yet to comment publicly on reports he is being investigated.
The singer’s career has been dogged by controversies surrounding his infatuation with young women some of whom filed lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct.
Just last year, he was accused of trapping six women in a sex “cult”.
But, in keeping with his reaction to accusations in Surviving R Kelly, the singer has denied all claims relating to sexual assault, domestic violence/abuse and sexual misconduct with minors.
His links with younger women became public due to his relationship with Aaliyah, who he married in 1994 when she was just 15 after she lied about her age.
But the fledgling star — killed in a plane crash in 2001 — is just the tip of the iceberg and now his accusers are queuing up to tell all, inspired by the #MeToo campaign.
