7 year oldJENNIFER Garner and Ben Affleck might not be done and dusted after all.
People magazine is reporting that close to two years after announcing they were getting a divorce, the famous couple have put things on hold.
“Jen has called off the divorce,” a source told the magazine. “She really wants to work things out with Ben. They are giving things another try.”
But another source close to the couple says it was a decision they both came to: “There is always a chance of reconciliation. They love each other. They also really, really love their kids, and those kids love their parents.”
Indeed, the day after Aflleck appeared at the Oscars with best mate Matt Damon, the former couple reportedly hosted a small party at their Los Angeles home to celebrate their son Samuel’s 5th birthday, along with daughters Violet, 11, and Seraphina, 8. “The girls had wrapped presents for Sam, including superhero toys. They had a cake. Everyone seemed happy,” says a source.
But while Affleck and Garner are in a better place now, they recently went through a strained period that nearly led them to throw in the towel on their marriage. “Jen was telling friends that she plans on filing for divorce,” the source told People.
“She just wanted to move on and focus on the happy things in her life. She was exhausted from all the ups and downs.”
And though they separated nearly two years ago, the couple have remained living at their Los Angeles compound for the sake of their three kids.
They’re regularly spotted attending church together and holidaying in Montana and the Carribbean.
“They want to keep the family together,” the source told People.
The two have previously discussed their “modern family” with Garner referring to Affleck as “a friend”.
As Affleck told said in an interview back in January, “I like taking my kids to school in the morning and dropping them off and having them know their dad is there. That feels good.”
Says the Garner source: “Ben is making a big effort to take care of himself. They are not back together, but there seems to be hope. Jen is hoping they can stay married. Ben doesn’t want a divorce either.”
