8 year oldAfter more than 33 years of marriage, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have reportedly split. The 67-year-old Black Sabbath rocker and the 63-year-old television host mutually agreed to call it quits, according to E! News.
Ozzy has moved out of the family’s home temporarily, E! News first reported. Apparently, their decision to split had nothing to do with the singer’s heavily reported addiction issues, TMZ later confirmed.
Sharon first met Ozzy in the early ‘70s through her father, Don Arden, the then manager of Black Sabbath, when she was 18. The pair married in 1982 and have three children together, Jack, Kelly and Aimee.
The marriage was Sharon’s first and Ozzy’s second. He was previously married to Thelma Riley, with whom he has three children, Elliot, Jessica and Louis.
Sharon, Ozzy and their children, except the eldest, Aimee, appeared on the popular MTV reality show “The Osbournes” f-rom 2002 to 2005, introducing audiences to a more relatable side of the heavy metal couple. The show was a bona fide hit, becoming MTV’s most-viewed series at the time and garnering an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Show in 2002. As recently as last year, the family was in talks to reboot “The Osbournes” on VH1.
Throughout their marriage, Ozzy struggled to cope with a decades-long drug and alcohol addiction. Divorce rumors swirled in 2013, after he admitted to relapsing, leading the rocker to pen a heartfelt apology to “the people I love most, my family.”
Sharon stood by his side through it all, telling Vanity Fair in 2011 that “we’ve always been in it for the long haul.”
“I never wanted to be a divorced woman ever,” she told the magazine. “Even before I met Ozzy, there weren’t any other men out there that I liked at all. They were always very boring. So to find somebody that I actually loved and wanted to be with, well, why ruin a good thing?”
We have reached out to both Sharon’s and Ozzy’s representatives and will up-date the post accordingly.
