Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló Resigns After Chat Scandal

Puerto Ricans have been marching through San Juan to protest allegations of corruption and offensive messages published during the “Chatgate” scandal
(CNN) - Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said he will step down next Friday after more than a week of protests calling for his resignation.
Rosselló announced in a video on Facebook that he will resign August 2 at 5 p.m. ET. The governor acknowledged many constituents wanted him gone, and said the recent protests had humbled him.The governor had been expected to announce his resignation earlier Wednesday as lawmakers were ready to begin impeachment proceedings.
Justice Secretary Wanda Vázquez will likely take his place as governor.
