Before the election Donald Trump predicted he would win big and revealed the two excuses Democrats would use for their failure.
In the lead-up to Donald Trump’s massive election victory, the Republican candidate had already predicted he would win big and revealed the two excuses the Democrats would wheel out.
In typical Trump fashion, the 78-year-old said in the weeks prior to election day he was “way ahead” and was already milling over what the Harris campaign would say in the event of his victory.
He said the Democrats would lay the blame on that fact that no primary was held to select Kamala Harris, and that Ms Harris would say she shouldn’t have have picked Tim Walz — a governer painted as a “radical left” influence — as her running mate.

“Let’s see how it all turns out,” he said on the Joe Rogan Experience two weeks ago. “ I think we’re way ahead now.
“If they lose they are going to look at two things. They are going to say they should have had a primary, even if it was a short primary. They shouldn’t have picked her (Kamala Harris).
“And then she’s gonna say I shouldn’t have picked this guy (Mr Walz).”
Mr Trump had repeatedly slammed the decision from the Democrats not to hold a primary to pick Ms Harris after Joe Biden revealed he would no longer be running — even though some within the party and the media raised the alarm over her popularity and effectiveness.
Mr Walz meanwhile had come under fire from the Republicans due to the Minnesota Governor’s handling of issues such as crime, law enforcement, and the response to protests and riots, particularly during the aftermath of George Floyd’s death in 2020.
Speaking to Rogan, Mr Trump said Mr Walz allowed the situation to spiral out of control, letting the city of Minneapolis, in his state of Minnesota, burn and failing to take decisive action to restore order.

Mr Trump also suggested excuses were coming out for Mr Walz even before the election result.
On the selection of her running mate, Ms Harris told ‘All The Smoke’ hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson in Sepetember that she made her “gut” decision to select him after being unable to sleep much the night before.
‘Arrogant’: Democrat bloodletting begins
One of Mr Trump’s predictions that Ms Harris would be hung out to dry appears to have come true already, with some insiders calling her campaign “arrogant” and misguided.
Disgruntled party members have called Ms Harris an “empty pantsuit” and stated her staffers and advisers “don’t represent real Americans”.
“She was a s**t candidate and Trump made her look worse than Hillary Clinton,” one source told the New York Post.
Sources who spoke to The Post pondered how the Harris campaign could have ended in electoral disaster after gaining US$1 billion in fundraising.
“I’ve worked on five presidential campaigns. I knew this would be hard. Others acted like they knew they were going to win,” one person said.
“They were arrogant.”
Another said advisers “tried an Obama play with a non-Obama candidate” and added Ms Harris flopped because “people didn’t connect with her”.
Her flip flopping on issues like border security and environmental issues also made her unappealing to voters, the insiders claimed.
Harris was Biden’s ‘best decision’
President Biden meanwhile, in his first remarks since Mr Trump won the election, shared praise for Ms Harris.
“Under extraordinary circumstances, she stepped up and led a historic campaign that embodied what’s possible when guided by a strong moral compass and a clear vision for a nation that is more free, more just, and full of more opportunities for all Americans,” he said.
He said selecting Ms Harris as his running mate was the first decision he made when he became the nominee for president in 2020.
“It was the best decision I made,” Mr Biden said. “Her story represents the best of America’s story. And as she made clear today, I have no doubt that she’ll continue writing that story.
“She will continue the fight with purpose, determination, and joy. She will continue to be a champion for all Americans. Above all, she will continue to be a leader our children will look up to for generations to come as she puts her stamp on America’s future.”
The outcome of the election is still too raw for many Democrats to analyse where it all went wrong. One thing is for certain — the soul-searching will continue for some time.
