Grisham, who also serves as the first lady's deputy chief of staff, will become Trump's third press secretary in three years and will succeed Sarah Sanders, who is leaving the position at the end of the month and will return to her home state of Arkansas.
In addition to the role of press secretary, Grisham also will serve as White House communications director, a job previously held by Bill Shine, who resigned in March after less than a year on the job.
Grisham has a long history with the Trump family and is known for her loyalty to them, particularly the first lady.
She worked as a press aide in Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016 and is one of the few campaign staffers still in the White House. After Trump was elected, she went to the White House to work as a deputy to Trump’s first press secretary, Sean Spicer.
