7 year oldJANET Jackson has surprised fans by breaking down in tears mid-song while performing in Houston.
Jackson is on the second part of her tour, which she renamed her State of the World tour after putting it on hold for her pregnancy.
It kicked off two days prior, but something appeared to get to the singer on stage during a recent concert. The moment came after her performance of the song What About, from her 1997 album The Velvet Rope.
When it was over, she stopped, put her hand over her face and began to cry on stage. It took the 51-year-old singer a moment to compose herself, with the encouragement of her audience, before saying to the crowd, “This is me.”
As E Online points out, the song in question deals with themes of domestic violence.
Jackson gave birth to her first child, son Eissa, about nine months ago. Meanwhile, she’s going through a divorce from his father, Wissam Al Mana, after five years of marriage.
Prior to the concert, Entertainment Tonight reported that Jackson made the most of her time in Houston, which was recently hit by Hurricane Harvey.
The star reportedly surprised fans at the local convention centre, where approximately 1,600 evacuees were staying.
