China's Xi calls for restraint with North Korea in call with Trump

Media reports claim North Korean authorities have arrested and detained a U.S. citizen — the third American currently held prisoner by the country. Video provided by Newsy Newslook

 

In another phone call earlier this month, Trump said he told Xi that he could get better trade terms from the United States if China helps rein in nuclear threats from North Korea. China is a long-time ally of the North.

South Korean officials warned there is a chance that the North will conduct a nuclear test or a maiden intercontinental missile launch around the founding anniversary of its military on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.

The Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST) named a U.S. citizen who was arrested at an airport in Pyongyang on Saturday as Kim Sang Duk, also known as Tony Kim.

The college said he taught at PUST for several weeks before he was arrested as he was about to leave the country. Kim is in his late 50s, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap.
