A hugely successful pop singer has been spotted living a very normal life in New York City – and she’s looking unrecognisable.

Kiwi singer Lorde has been spotted looking unrecognisable in fresh photos while wandering around New York City.

Lorde, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, became famous when she was just a teenager.

She was known for her signature curly brunette hair with a style verging on gothic.

Now, she’s been spotted rocking blonde pigtails and going for a much more casual and sunny look.

The singer, 27, wore oversized headphones, a moss green jacket and a little cap. She looked like any other twenty-something, not the hugely famous star she is.

Fans were quick to weigh in on her low-key look.

“Casual human on the streets of New York,” someone commented.

“I would walk past her without knowing,” another confessed.

“I thought this was Dakota Fanning,” one shared.

his isn’t the first time the pop singer has been spotted living a very normal life. In October, a fan spotted her on the subway.

Lorde was pictured sitting by herself, looking casual and wearing jeans and a T-shirt paired with oversized headphones. She was also carrying a canvas tote bag that every woman in her 20s owns a version of.

The star didn’t seem upset about being spotted because she happily snapped a selfie with a fan, who shared it proudly on social media.

Lorde’s clearly been living a pretty low-key existence since her last album, Solar Power, came out in 2021.

While the album still peaked at number five on the Billboard charts, it didn’t quite reach the successful heights of her sophomore album Melodrama, which snagged a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, or her debut album Pure Heroine, which launched her career.

In a newsletter penned in 2022, Lorde reflected on the mixed reception to her third album, saying it led to some huge ups and downs as the response was “painful” to sit with at times.

Since then, she’s been pretty private, but she did open up to fans in September to share she was experiencing heartbreak again.

In a note titled ‘How I’ve been, revised’ she told her subscriber fan base she was going through a time of growth.

“I’m different but the same. I ache all the time, I forget why and then remember,” she explained.

“I’m not trying to hide from the pain, and I understand now that pain isn’t something to hide from, that there’s actually great beauty in moving with it. But sometimes, I’m sick of being with myself.”

The note sparked a theory she may have ended things with
music executive Justin Warren.

Lorde has never spoken about their relationship, but they have been linked since early 2015 and spotted together consistently.

Not much is known about their relationship apart from the significant seventeen-year age gap. Warren is 44 and Lorde is 27.
