Music legend Celine Dion made a surprise and emotional appearance at the 2024 Grammys amid her health battle.

Superstar Celine Dion made a surprise appearance at the Grammys on Monday amid her battle with a rare neurological disorder that forced her out of the spotlight.

The legendary Canadian singer took to the stage to present the award for Album of the Year to Taylor Swift, who won for a record fourth time, and received a warm welcome from the audience who gave her a standing ovation before her touching speech.

“Thank you all. I love you right back,” said the star.

“You look beautiful. When I say that I’m happy to be here, I really mean it. From my heart.”

She continued: “Those who have been blessed enough to be here, the Grammy, the awards, must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world.”

Dion was last seen in public in November 2023 when she attended Katy Perry’s Las Vegas residency at the Resorts World Theatre. She had also been scheduled to play the iconic venue herself but was forced to call off her appearances due to her disorder.

The iconic singer’s appearance at the Grammys comes just days after she announced a new tell-all documentary that promises to reveal how her life away from the limelight has been since her tragic diagnosis.

“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,” she said in a statement about the documentary’s release. “As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realised how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans. During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life to help others who share this diagnosis.”

Last December, Dion’s sister Claudette disclosed that the disorder affected the star’s ability to walk and sing, therefore putting a tragic end to all of her live performances and scheduled tours.

“She works hard, but she doesn’t have control over her muscles,” she told French magazine 7 Jours. “What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined. She’s always worked hard.”

The star’s sibling went on to say she has been in contact with many people suffering from stiff person syndrome — and their loved ones — who have “lost hope” that a cure will ever be found.

“If only you knew the number the number of messages the foundation gets about Celine! People tell us they love her and they’re praying for her,” she said. “She gets so many messages, presents and blessed crucifixes.”

Dion announced her diagnosis in December 2022 after various concert cancellations — and ultimately ended her “Courage” world tour. She last took the stage in March 2020.
