Twitter set to change the way it counts links and pictures in tweets

Rather than letting people make longer tweets, a report in Bloomberg today says Twitter will let people squeeze more into their 140 c-haracters.

The big change will be in how each tweet handles links, which currently can cut a tweet’s c-haracter limit to 117 c-haracters.

Twitter has not yet announced the change and the report quotes a “person familiar with the matter” but it is in line with recent moves by Twitter to make the social media easier for people.

Twitter chief Jack Dorsey has spoken in the past few months about possible changes to the c-haracter limit which was set up in the first days of Twitter based on the amount of c-haracters that can fit into a text message.
