Musician Alanis Morissette has revealed she identifies as pansexual.
Morissette, 52, made the candid revelation during a recent appearance on the Handsome podcast, co-hosted by comedians Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster and Mae Martin.

Towards the end of the episode, Feimster made a joke about the long list of heartbreak and love songs on her smash hit 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, saying she was “sorry for the men that hurt you, but not sorry for the songs that came from it”.
“Did it make you want to be a lesbian at any point?” Feimster asked.
The Ironic singer quickly replied; “I’m pansexual, so yeah.”
Co-host Notaro appeared taken aback by the admission, asking, “Wait, you’re not really pansexual, are you? How did I not know this?”
“I am,” Morissette replied, before joking about withholding the bombshell until the very end of the podcast. “I like to leave it for the epilogue,” she said.
Pansexuality is defined as a romantic, sexual or emotional attraction to people regardless of their gender identity or sex.
Morissette delivered the news while still married to Mario ‘Souleye’ Treadway, the songwriter whom she married in 2010. The pair share three children: son Ever, 15, daughter Onyx, 10, and youngest son Winter, seven.
While Morissette has in the past described herself as “pretty heterosexual”, she did reveal earlier this year that she found her on-screen kiss with Sarah Jessica Parker to be “amazing”.
Back in 2000, Morissette made a cameo appearance on the hit show Sex and the City, and kissed Parker’s character, Carrie Bradhsaw, during a spin the bottle scene.
“I reached out to them and I said, ‘Might it be a nice time for Carrie to experience a lesbian moment?’ And they said, ‘Why, yes. We were thinking the same thing,’” Morissette recalled of the experience on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
“I do recall kissing her — it was very pleasant,” she added.
Outside of that, Morissette also said in 2008 that exploring one’s sexuality is a “beautiful rite of passage”.
The public has only known of Morissette’s relationships with men, including actor Ryan Reynolds – who she got engaged to in 2024 before splitting in 2007 – as well as comedian Dave Coulier and musician Ryan Adams.
