After it was revealed that an acting comeback was motivating Meghan’s UK return, sources have revealed the hit show she’s set to join.
EXCLUSIVE
Less than a day after it emerged that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was returning to acting, details about the UK production she’s set to star in have emerged.
Entertainment sources told news.com.au – who first revealed her unexpected comeback to her pre-Prince Harry career – that she has been offered a role in Guy Ritchie’s hit comedy-drama series, The Gentlemen.
The hit Netflix show is filmed in Britain and is a spinoff of Ritchie’s 2019 film by the same name.
Season two, starring Theo James and Kaya Scoderlario, is set to premiere in the first week of September.
While season three hasn’t officially been greenlit, season one was a huge success for the streaming giant.
Meghan’s planned role in the series has not been made clear.
News.com.au has reached out to the Duchess of Sussex’s representative for comment.
The news comes after a source close to Harry and Meghan revealed to news.com.au that the couple were relocating from California back to Britain with their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.
The children are already enrolled in a school in Britain, starting class when the school year begins in early September.
Prior to meeting Harry, Meghan had built a successful career in Hollywood, with her breakout role coming as Rachel Zane in hit legal series Suits.
She quit the show in 2017 once her relationship with Harry became public knowledge, and later moved to the UK to be with him and take on a public role as part of the royal family.
At the time, she explained of her decision: “I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change. It’s a new challenge.”
In a major sign of what was to come, it was revealed in November that Meghan had signed on to appear in a small cameo as herself – alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Henry Golding and Jack Quaid – in Amazon MGM Studios’ production Close Personal Friends.
