A new Skims Christmas campaign has everyone talking for all the wrong reasons, with fans likening it to a ‘horror movie’.
A bizarre new Christmas campaign from Kim Kardashian’s Skims has gone viral for all the wrong reasons after fans branded the retro photo shoot “creepy”.
The globally renowned shapewear and loungewear brand has just dropped its Christmas loungewear and pyjama range with an Instagram post declaring: “Nobody does the holidays like Skims.”
“Our most anticipated drop of the year is ready to unwrap with festive prints, merry shades and limited-edition styles you’ll only find this time of year,” the caption read.
The globally renowned shapewear and loungewear brand, co-founded by Kim Kardashian, regularly makes headlines for its solutions-focused and comfortable approach to women’s everyday intimates and body-sculpting basics.
The new drop features the five iconic sisters – Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie, and Kendall – posed deadpan inside a humble ‘70s retro home complete with fluffy carpets, leather and velvet furniture, and yellowing wallpaper.
But the vintage throwback didn’t quite land the way the brand had hoped online.
“This unfortunately does not get me in the holiday spirit,” one person wrote.
“What am I looking at here,” said another, while a third bluntly added: “Looks like something from a horror movie!”
“Is it me or is it giving Russia Soviet times,” someone else wrote.
Others questioned the quality of the materials, which are usually praised for their buttery-soft feel and premium stretch.
“Why does the material look like cheap polyester in these pics,” a user added.
Another simply wrote: “You’re creeping us out Kim!”
But it wasn’t all doom and gloom in the comments section.
Die-hard fans flocked to defend the label, with one writing, “All I want for Christmas is Skims,” while others branded the shoot “hot” and “iconic.”
The controversial drop comes as the celebrity mogul becomes the subject of a revealing new biography: Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, penned by journalist Jonathan Van Meter and released yesterday.
The bombshell new book lifts the lid on the reality star’s strategic rise to fame, revealing she was already plotting her MTV debut at just 12 years old.
It takes a deep dive into her turbulent romantic history, detailing her teenage romance with TJ Jackson that ultimately led to her first Vegas elopement at 19.
The biography also exposes the truth behind her doomed marriage to Kanye West.
The Skims Holiday Shop opens Thursday, October 29.
