THIS time last year, Harvey Weinstein was lauded by the elite. Now, he’s holed up in Arizona wearing a wig for a disguise.

WHAT a difference a year makes.

While usually Harvey Weinstein was pictured surrounded by a crowd of Hollywood’s brightest stars during the lavish Golden Globes after-parties, this year revellers dressed in black and the one-time super producer was nowhere to be seen.

Instead, Weinstein is reportedly holed up in Arizona, staying at The Meadows, a luxury private clinic that treats a range of conditions from alcohol to drugs, eating disorders, sex, trauma and work addiction.

The clinic is set on 14 acres of desert landscape with a pool is reported to cost a whopping $37,000 per month. The site claims to be one of the “premier drug rehab and psychological trauma treatment centres” in the US and helps patients “address the emotional trauma that drives their self-destructive behaviours and mental health disorders.”

While Weinstein has not officially confirmed he is living at The Meadows, he waslast spotted in public nearby in early December at an Italian restaurant with an unidentified woman while they had lunch and watched a sports game on TV.

In November he was reportedly spotted wearing a baseball cap and blonde wig to disguise himself while out for lunch in Phoenix, Arizona.

In October, he had denied having non-consensual sex with anyone but apologised to those he had hurt, saying he needed some time out to become a “better person”.

It’s a far cry from his life at the centre of the world’s most fawning and glamorous industry where he was referred to once as “God”.

In 2016, the Weinstein Company hosted a Golden Globes after-party with Netflix, with guests including Cate Blanchett, Zendaya, Morgan Freeman and Jamie Foxx. In 2017, the company put Naomi Campbell and the Stranger Things cast on the guest list, however in 2018 Netflix decided to go it alone.

Instead, the mogul’s heavy presence was felt as women dressed in a sea of black in solidarity with other accusers. First-time host Seth Myers referenced Weinstein in his introduction when he said: “It’s 2018 — marijuana is finally allowed and sexual harassment finally isn’t,” at the kick-off of the show.

“For the male nominees in the room tonight, this is the first time in three months it won’t be terrifying to hear your name read out loud.”

Other stars left out the Weinstein name, but acknowledged the outpouring of calls for change. Big Little Lies winner Reese Witherspoon said: “It’s been a difficult year for our industry,”

“I think there was a collective feeling that it wouldn’t be business as usual.”

Perhaps the most powerful moment came from Oprah Winfrey who declared: “For too long women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men.”

“But their time is up. Their time is up!”
